One point perspective is a drawing method that shows how things appear to get smaller as they get further away, converging towards a single ‘ vanishing point ’ on the horizon line . It is a way of drawing objects upon a flat piece of paper so that they look three-dimensional and realistic. One-point perspective is a way to create the Element of "Space" in your art! Space is the illusion of a three-dimensional place in your drawing, and that's what one-point perspective creates. For this drawing, you can follow a video tutorial here.  Go on Ms. Myers’ Clever page and click on the “Self Portrait Gallery” or click on this link. Choose the three self-portrait artworks you think are most interesting. Make a thumbnail sketch of each. Try to capture the face, the pose, and any big/important details. Don't worry about making it perfect - the goal is to help you remember what the original picture looked like. Answer the questions on the handout – what does each portrait tell you about the person who made it? If you do not have the original printed packet, you can get three pieces of plain paper. Draw a small box on each paper. Above the box, write the original artist's name. Inside the box, draw the artwork. Below the box, write your answer to these four questions: What is your first impression of the person in the portrait? What is the overall mood of the self-portrait?   Success Criteria: On the top of the cube, write the animal's name in BIG, BOLD letters. Color the rest of the space with the animal's division color. On the left side of the cube, draw and color a picture that represents where the animal lives. If it lives in multiple places, you can choose which you want to draw.  Make sure you complete the Facial Features and practice portrait drawing before starting this assignment. You will be applying what you've learned about drawing the parts of the face and about facial proportions in a final portrait drawing. Step 1: Find a reference photo Get a picture of a person of your choice. It could be a celebrity, an athlete, a family member, or even yourself. Make sure you can see their face clearly in the photo. Tip: Black & white photos are the best because it will make the shading step later on easier! Step 2: Sketch what you see in pencil.   Use your knowledge of proportions to make sure the facial features are in the right spots. Step 3: Shade wherever you see shadows or dark areas in the picture. Black & White photos are easiest for this step because it lets you see the shadows more clearly without getting distracted by the colors. You can still use a color photo though. You can print out packet pages at home OR you can just read the guides on your computer, get a couple sheets of white paper, and draw the following: ·       Two eyes with eyebrows ·       Two noses ·       Two mouths/lips ·       One full head and face that follows the Proportions Guide and includes hair Drawing Eyes Tips: Step 4: Make sure the top of the circle for the iris touches or goes under the top of the eyelid.
